Catheterization - If an incontinence is due to overflow incontinence, in which the bladder never empties completely, or if the bladder cannot empty because of poor muscle tone, past surgery, or spinal cord injury, a catheter may be used to empty the bladder. A catheter is a tube that can be inserted through the urethra into the bladder to drain urine. Catheters may be used once in a while or on a constant basis, in which case the tube connects to a bag that is attached to the leg. If a long-term(or indwelling)catheter is used, urinary tract infections may occur.

I've been wearing diapers for twenty years now and I wear them now because I'm incontinent but when i first started to wear them it was because of my girlfriend who was in the hospital. The doctors put her in diapers because both her legs were broken badly and she didn't want to use the catheter so they put her in diapers. I went to visit her and she asked me if I would try them myself. I went to the store and bought me some Depends and I took them home and tryied them on. It was very hard to wet them at first but then I was finnally able to wet them. When I wet the first time I flooded the diaper and it leaked bad and then after that I was able to just let go into my diapers anytime I wanted to. Wetting sitting down isn't near as hard as wetting while your walking!!!! Thats the tough one!!!! I do it all the time now!!!Keep wearing your diapers and don't ever get discouraged if for some reason you can't wet them. It will take a while but you'll get it sooner than later!!!!!
Capacity is not a problem because I lose the most fluid through sweat. The running shorts have a built-in liner that supports the diaper and the outside legs discretely hide it. Even on a two hour run and peeing twice, the diaper is no where near being full. Moreover, my shorts are so soaked with sweat that no one would know if I leaked.
I usually just add a good plastic pant. I work around a lot of young children, many of whom are still diapered themselves, and don't like to go overboard on my diaper of choice. Attends is what I use the most, after trying to play with my everyday underwear. When it's a requirement and not a choice, you go with what works.
